#4 Can we really not save them all?

Episode #4

If you are in the dog world, especially when it comes to behavioral euthanasia, you will hear the phrase "You can't save them all" quite often. Is this true? Can we really not save them all?

"You can't save them all"

"We can't save them all"

"They can't all be saved"

These are just some of the iterations of this phrase that I have heard often.  Both in the Veterinary world and the Dog Behavior and Dog Rescue world.  These phrases triggered me and made me irritated, mad, and very passionate.

As a certified veterinary technician I have heard this a lot when dogs would come in to be euthanized for x, y, or z, behavior reason.

As a dog trainer, with a special skill for aggression, I have heard this a lot when a dog would exhibit behaviors that no one else would be able to "fix".

So is this something that has a ring of truth to it or is it just a sentence that we have been repeating to make us feel good about the amount of dogs that get euthanized every day due to poor communication and handling skills?
